According to US officials, Ansar al-Sunnah wants to establish an Islamic state with Shariah law in Iraq. Membership in the group includes Kurds, foreign fighters other Sunni insurgents. Ansar al-Sunnah has reportedly joined forces with the banned Arab Socialist Ba'th Part and al-Qaeda in Iraq where they pledge to increase attacks on coalition and Iraqi forces.
